Why was Jesus so confusing?

And why in the heck did Jesus speak in parables anyway? Why didn’t he just speak plainly? Why did he leave SO MUCH to our understanding, our interpretation, our imagination? Assuming that what he was teaching was relevant to us and important for us to know…WHY did he leave so much ROOM for ERROR? Why does he allow us to get it wrong and fight with each other over who’s interpreting his stories in the most accurate way?

  1. I hear you sister. I have similar struggles as you do. Though there is confusion for much of Jesus' sayings, at least we have many portions which are clear. He said many a time that he was sent by God, who he called his father. And many times he told us that by believing in him (Jesus) we receive life eternal.

    The question, then, is has he provided us with enough clear information to take the leap of faith and trust him? Or do we need to have all his teachings clearly explained? Will those confusing teachings really make a difference on our eternal destination? And do people like us actually put in the time to seek out answers to our difficult questions?

    Fortunately we do have some help. There are a lot of very well educated men and women who have dedicated much of their lives to answering these types of questions. We need to seek them out and receive what they have to offer.

    I wish you the best. Your blogs remind me of my own journal entries! (full of raw truth and emotion)

  2. Me again.

    I was reminded of a passage after posting a few minutes ago. I wanted to share it. Have you read this one before?

    "For if you cry for discernment,
    Lift your voice for understanding;
    If you seek her as silver
    And search for her as for hidden treasures;
    Then you will discern the fear of the LORD
    And discover the knowledge of God.
    For the LORD gives wisdom."

    (Proverbs 2:3-6)
